For diamond you need to concentrate only on four things, cut, colour, caret, clarity.

1> CUT : some people think very unique cut in diamond makes it expensive. Actually not. It depends on the clarity of the cutting. Meaning the finer cut diamond you will get the greater quality you will receive. Small cuts reflect much possible rays of light. Deeper cuts make small number of rays reflect from it. So choose smaller cut,

2> COLOUR : Diamonds are in best quality when these don’t have any colour. Still you can find diamonds in few colours like off-white, very light pink, yellow. But always prefer colorless diamond which have to be original and precious.

3> CARET : Size does not matter in every cases. Just like in case of diamond it really does not matter how big diamond you are having. Here only matter is its weight. Diamonds are measured in Caret. 1 carat = 100 points. i.e. a diamond of 55 point= 0.55 carats.

4> CLARITY : More clarified diamond you will find more quality you will achieve. It should not contain anything inside it which can obstruct the light to pass and reflect.

PEARL

1> COLOUR : Pearls are found in white and off-white. But these days pink, yellow, black can be found easily in any reputed shop.

2> SHAPE : The shape of the pearl should be round or oval. It cant be any other geometric shape. basically pearls are shapeless by the origin. Jewellers give them shapes by little bit of polishing. But you cant get any original pearl in shape of a rectangle or triangle.
